From
the Project Director
Welcome to the Child Rights Information and Documentation Centre
[CRIDOC], a newly conceived initiative that seeks to provide access
to information on child rights or related issues through Documentation,
Research, Website and/or other ICT models.
This website is still under construction and the project is still
at a preparatory stage. I am frantically running up and down to
raise funds for what i believe will be one of the most innovative
child focused projects in Malawi. So don't be surprised that some
of the things you read on this site may actually be in future
tense, rather than in the present.
The project will have two main phases: The first is the
On-line segment or Head Start, which will largely be based on
the use of the Internet. Most of the information you are reading
now constitutes the Head Start, which may not require as much
funding as the second phase. All activities will be administered
on the Internet rather than other means of communication. With
the Head Start, i believe that we do not necessarily need to wait
for full funding to kick-start the project.
The second phase is the off-line segment, which will comprise
all other activities that do not directly involve the use of the
Internet, such as the library (with books, printed reports and
pamphlets, newspaper clippings, video documentaries, a computer
network, etcetera).
Special acknowledgement to the German
Chapter of the Global March Against Child Labour for offering
us a sub-domain and server space for free on their official website.
We are also kindly appealing for more support (in any form)
from other like-minded organisations, agencies, corporations
and individual well-wishers in Malawi and from around the world.
You could support us, for example, by making financial or material
donation, information sharing or other technical support, or simply
by posting your advert on this site.
For those who may be interested to sponsor the project, in part
or whole, or may want me to share the project proposal with you,
please do to not hesitate to contact me on any of the e-mails
below.
Thank you for your interest in the project and in child
rights issues. We hope you will enjoy navigating through the
rest of our fledgling website.
Sincerely,
George Kayange
Project Director
