Child Rights Glossary : A

ADOPT
A legal relationship between a child and a parent not related by birth. An Adoption Assistance Program is program that provides financial assistance and medical insurance for special needs children who are adopted.

AWARENESS
The fact or state of being aware, or conscious, especially of matters that are particularly relevant or topical Example: AIDS awareness.

An awareness campaign is therefore a series of actions advancing a principle or tending toward a particular end, or several related operations aimed at achieving a particular goal (usually within geographical and temporal constraints).
